20. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion to approve the Dec. 8, 2015 minutes by Dylan Moncus, seconded by Shane Bechtel. The motion carried.
30. ORAL REQUESTS FROM THE AUDIENCE
40. NEW AND CONTINUED BUSINESS
40.1 MYAC / Hearts with a Mission Sponsored Dinner Review–
Co-Chair, Dylan Moncus informed the group that approximately 30 people of the expected attended, therefore, Haylie Durant stated that the leftover food was brought to the Gospel Mission Men’s Shelter at 534 North Bartlett Street. The commission discussed the success of the event and the willingness to participate in future as a community service project.
40.2 Mistletoe Fundraiser Update
Shane Bechtel reported that no additional mistletoe sales were made before the holidays. The $63.00 in sales from the Winter Lights Festival will be placed in the MYAC Scholarship Account. Staff liaison, Jesse Nyberg will deposit the funds into the account and will give a balance report to the commission at the Jan. 21 meeting.
40.3 Project List Prioritization
Co-Chair Dylan Moncus brought a new fundraising idea to the commission involving selling roses during the week of Valentine’s Day to raise money for the MYAC Scholarship Fund. The commission requested more information for next meeting.
Commissioner, Ashley Rietmann informed the commission about a volunteering opportunity with the soup kitchen at St. Vincent DePaul. The commission expressed interest and requested more information at the next meeting.
40.4 MYAC Council Update
The commission discussed attending the Feb. 4th council meeting and giving an update on the accomplishments of the commission thus far.
50. REMARKS FROM COMMISSION MEMBERS
Co-Chair Dylan expressed the need for a MYAC Facebook page to spread the word about the commission’s activities and the value of having an avenue to communicate with the community’s youth. Staff Liaison, Jesse Nyberg stated that he will explore the idea through the City of Medford technology services department and see if this would be a possibility for the commission.
