The Board membership is composed as follows:
  • The Building Safety Director serves as an ex officio non-voting member and is the secretary of the Board 
  • The Fire Marshal serves as a non-voting ex officio member
  • There are five at-large members; there must be one member from each of the following categories: a licensed general contractor, a licensed engineer, a licensed architect, a member of the business community of the city, and a representative of the public not belonging to any of the foregoing categories
The duties of the Unified Appeal Board include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Hears appeals of a building official’s decision
  • The Board makes the decision on the basis of an appellant’s testimony, written statements or other supporting evidence as the Board deems appropriate

The Board acts on the authority provided by
Medford Municipal Code Sections 2.475, 2.479, 2.477, 2.479 and 9.662.
