The Medford Cemetery Commission is an advisory body which makes recommendations regarding the funding and operation of the historic IOOF/Eastwood Cemetery. The cemetery is listed on the National Historic Register and is a State of Oregon Pioneer Cemetery.
The Cemetery Commission is a subcommittee of the Parks and Recreation Commission. There are six adult positions who serve staggering three year terms and one position for a youth member whose term will run June 30 to July 1 each year.
A small discretionary fund allows the Commission to guide the selection of improvement projects at the property. The Commission also works to secure donations and bequests for the Cemetery in addition to working to educate the public on the site and its significance. Many members volunteer their time at the site in hands-on improvement projects.
The Commission currently holds general meetings at least once a quarter on the second Tuesday of the month. Additional meetings may be called by the Chairperson if agenda items warrant. Contact the liaison to confirm a meeting will be taking place or for other needs.
