Bob Strosser Councilmember Ward 4
A retired police officer, Bob Strosser was first elected in November 1998 representing Ward 4 and re-elected in 2002, 2006 and 2010. His current term of office runs through December 2014. Since being elected, he has been recognized and selected as a Council Officer many times. Bob served as Council Vice President in 2000, 2002, 2008, and 2011. He has also served as Council President in 2001, 2003, 2009 and 2012. Prior to serving on the City Council, Bob served on the City of Medford Budget Committee.
After being schooled in the San Gabriel Valley of California, Bob pursued his Bachelor of Science degree in Public Management from Pepperdine University. He then spent a career in law enforcement as a police officer for the City of Pasadena, retiring at the rank of Police Commander after nearly twenty-four years of dedicated service. His law enforcement career was interrupted when he was drafted into the U.S. Army (May 1967-May 1969) to serve in Viet Nam with the 227th Pathfinder Detachment, being assigned to Team #1.
Currently, Bob is a Principal Broker with Coldwell Banker Pro West. Bob has been involved with the Medford area since 1980. He moved here with his family upon his retirement in 1990 in what they all described as a “quality of life” move to Southern Oregon. Bob's wife, Phyllis, supports his involvement in the community and sees his role on the City Council as one to communicate with and assist our residents in managing the many present and future challenges facing Medford. Bob has served as a member of, or liaison to, the following committees & commissions: League of Oregon Cities Board, Regional Rate Committee, Communications Advisory Committee, Budget Committee, City Council Finance Committee, Asian American Affairs Committee, Southern Oregon Regional Economic Development, Traffic Coordinating Committee, West Medford Community Coalition, Police Advisory Committee, Cemetery Commission, Multicultural Commission, Liaison to the Medford Water Commission, and the Rogue Basin Steering Committee.
