Threats to Medford High Schools

Type of Incident: Threats to Medford High Schools
On November 15, 2017 at 5:58 PM Medford Police began receiving reports
from several citizens advising of text messages and social media posts
indicating there would be a school shooting on November 16, 2017.
Information received indicated this event would take place at both North
Medford High School and South Medford High School.

Due to the severity of the threats and the number of complaints being
received, School Resource Officers and a Detective responded
immediately to investigate these threats.

Information obtained from the reporting citizens helped officers identify
the 15 year old male suspect. Officers checked several locations prior to
information leading them to the suspectís location at a residence in
Medford. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

The investigation revealed the suspect did post the threats but it was
found he had no means available to act on these threats and the suspect
admitted he had no intent of carrying them out.
The suspect was lodged at JDH for Disorderly Conduct.
