Suspect: (Arrested) Flores-Loveland, Santiago (20 years old)
On 11/20/17 at 7:35 PM, officers responded to the area of Dakota Avenue and Hamilton Street, in Medford for the report of multiple gunshots being heard in the area. Officers were on scene within minutes of the initial call.
It was determined several rounds were fired from a vehicle towards a residence in the 1100 Block of Dakota Avenue. The involved residence was occupied by five people at the time, to include a one month old baby. There were no reported injuries to anyone inside the residence. The residence and two vehicles parked in the driveway were struck by bullets.
Witnesses to the shooting reported seeing a white Ford Mustang leaving the area at a high rate of speed. Detectives from the Medford Police Department Criminal Investigation Section and the Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement Team responded and took over the investigation.
The investigation and video surveillance in the area led detectives to a residence in the 900 block of Hamilton Street. The vehicle believed to be involved in this shooting was located at this residence. On 11/21/17 at approximately 7:30PM detectives executed a search warrant at the residence where additional evidence was recovered. While at the residence detectives took 20 year old Santiago Flores-Loveland into custody. Flores-Loveland was initially lodged at the Jackson County Jail for violation of his Parole. This morning, 11/22/17, detectives added the below listed charges related to the shooting incident on 11/20/17.
Detectives believe this incident is gang related. Santiago-Flores was released from prison on 9/22/17 and is currently on Parole with Jackson County Community Justice. Santiago-Flores is on Parole from a prior shooting incident investigated by the Medford Police Department that occurred in September of 2015.
Parole and Probation Officers from Jackson County Community Corrections assisted the Medford Police Department with this investigation.
