News Release from Medford Police Dept. Posted on FlashAlert: May 29th, 2019 6:44 AM
On May 28th, 2019 at about 11:13 p.m., officers were dispatched to a reported shooting in the 1700 block of Crater Lake Avenue. At the time of the call, an officer was in the 1100 block of Crater Lake Avenue and was on scene within a minute. The officer, who happened to be EMT certified, tended to the victim, who was bleeding profusely from a gunshot wound. The officer applied "Quikclot" combat gauze to the wound to control the bleeding. The 32 year old male victim was taken to Providence Hospital by ambulance where he is currently listed in critical but stable condition.
Medford Police Detectives, as well as the Oregon State Police Crime lab responded to the scene. The investigation indicates the victim was standing in the carport of a residence, when a vehicle traveling southbound on Crater Lake Avenue fired several shots at him, striking him. The vehicle is only described as an older gray sedan.
Detectives are asking for folks who have video surveillance in the area to check their cameras. Detectives are considering the fact that this is gang related, but that remains under investigation. Anyone within information is asked to contact Medford Police, 541-770-4783.
