Note: These instructions apply to violations only. If you are charged with a crime, you must appear before the judge on the specified date and time.
You may exercise one of the below listed options on or before your appearance date. The appearance date is listed at the bottom of your citation.
Violations are scheduled to appear before the clerk of the court. An appearance before the Judge must be requested.
You may want to investigate the following when considering your options:
Option #1 - Enter a plea of no contest and pay the presumptive fine.
- Personal appearance
- By mail
- On-Line by credit card.
Option #2 - Enter a plea of no contest with an explanation to the Judge
The clerk of the court is not able to take your explanation into consideration when imposing a fine. You must submit your plea and explanation to the Judge. You can do this one of three ways:
- Schedule an arraignment appointment to see the Judge in person. Call 774-2040 to schedule a date and time.
- Mail your no contest plea, written explanation, and payment of the fine to: Medford Municipal Court, 411 W. 8th St., Medford, OR 97501.
- E-mail your no contest plea and written explanation to the Judge at Court@cityofmedford.org. Be sure to include your citation number, name, current mailing address and daytime phone number.
A no contest plea does result in a conviction and will appear on your driving record.
Option #3 - Enter a not guilty plea and request a trial
You have the right to enter a plea of not guilty. You can either enter the plea by mail or in person. Upon entry of a not guilty plea, the court will schedule a trial date for you. You should be aware that if you are found guilty at trial, you will not be offered the option of traffic school and the conviction will be entered on your driving record.
