Engineering Design Standards for Public Improvements (EDSPI)

Developed jointly by the City of Medford and the City of Ashland to be used for the design of public improvements. Adopted by Medford City Council in December 2004.

The EDSPI is provided below for download. This file contains both WORD and EXCEL documents.

As-Built Survey Submittal Requirements

These requirements are contained within the EDSPI referenced above. The Appendices that describe the format and contents of the drawing are available below.

Streets

Engineering design standards  for new streets are available for download in the EDSPI, (below).

Street widths and service levels for various classifications of streets can be found in Article 4-Public Improvement Standards and Criteria Section 10.430A, Tables IV-1 and IV-3 of the Land Development Code.

Structural sections of streets, alleys and minimum access roads shall be designed in accordance with the criteria set forth in the City of Medford Public Works/Engineering and Development Division’s “Asphalt Concrete Pavement Structural Design Guidelines (ACPSDG) (1998).” A T.I. of 3.5 shall be used for minimum access roads, and a T.I. of 4.5 shall be used for alleys. T.I.’s for all other streets can be found in the ACPSDG.

The ACPSDG is available for download (below) or from the Engineering & Development Division of Public Works, Modular Units, City Hall.

Sidewalks, Driveways and Wheelchair Ramps in the Public Right-of-Way

Sidewalk, driveway apron and wheelchair ramp standard details are contained in the Standard Drawings available for download (below).

Design requirements can be found by using the Article 4 link contained in the STREETS section (above).

Also, copies of these documents are available from the Engineering and Development Division of Public Works, located on the second floor of the Lausmann Annex, 200 S. Ivy Street.

Right-of-Way

Requirements for street right-of-way widths can be found in the Land Development Code of the City of Medford (Chapter 10 of the Medford Code). Specifically, Table IV-2 in Section 10.430A lists the right-of-way widths for all street classifications in the City.

Copies of this table are available from the Medford Planning Department, 541-774-2380 or from the Engineering and Development Division of Public Works, 541-774-2100. Both Planning and Engineering are located on the second floor of the Lausmann Annex, 200 S. Ivy Street.

Street Light

Refer to the Street Lighting Standards and Specifications.  Street light standard details are also contained in the Standard Drawings available for download below.

Updated Street Light Standards were adopted on March 8, 2019.

Standard Drawings

Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) standard drawings have been adopted by the City of Medford as of May 15, 2017, except for the CD drawings allowed by this letter detailing
