What is the purpose of a business license?
To ensure compliance with city codes relating to Planning, Building, Fire and Engineering.
How do I get my license?
Complete an application. Applications are available at 200 S. Ivy St, 2nd Floor of the Lausmann Annex. Planning, Building, Fire and Engineering Departments will review. Please allow up to three week processing time for applications received via mail.
Will I receive a license immediately?
Occasionally, on-site inspections may be required prior to endorsement. Upon receiving these endorsements and payment of the business license and any other applicable fees, you are licensed. In approximately 3 weeks a computer generated business license will be mailed to you.
What if I operate without a license?
You would be in violation of Medford City Code and subject to citation, fines, and penalties.
What if I don't renew my license on time?
You will be charged a $25.00 late fee if you renew your business license after your expiration date. A renewal notice will be sent out prior to your expiration date. Please keep your current contact information updated and notify Business Licenses if there are any changes.
What if I sell my business?
If ownership has changed, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to advise of the change of ownership and name change if applicable. You may also come in to the office at 200 S. Ivy Street. This should be done within 30 days of the transfer.
