Child Safety Seat Checks

Child Safety Seat ChecksSafety Seat Brochure

Medford Fire-Rescue performs child safety seat checks once a month and these are done by scheduled appointment only.  The safety checks are performed by our certified Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST), Deputy Fire Marshal Samantha Metheny. To schedule an appointment, please contact Medford Fire-Rescue Headquarters at 541-774-2300. There are other local organizations and fire districts that have child safety programs and they are listed on the brochure on this page.

Medford Fire-Rescue does not install child safety seats, we only perform safety checks. Please have the seat installed to the best of your ability before coming to your appointment. For any questions regarding child safety seats, you can contact Deputy Fire Marshal Samantha Metheny at 541-774-2300.

Oregon State Law

Booster Seat Law: Requires children over 40 pounds or who have reached the upper weight limit for their forward-facing car seat must use boosters to 4'9" tall or age eight and the adult belt must fit correctly.

National "best practices" recommends children ride in the back seat through age 12
