Location of incident: 2570 block of Crater Lake Hwy, Medford

On April 23rd, at about 9:09 p.m., officers responded to a report of an armed robbery behind the Guitar Center on Crater Lake Hwy. Upon arrival, officers found that the 19 year old male victim had been walking behind the closed business when he was approached by two unknown males, one of which had a handgun. The suspects demanded the victim’s wallet and shoes and proceeded to strike him in the head with the gun. The victim gave up his wallet and money, and the suspects forcibly removed his pants and shoes. The victim sustained minor head injuries.

Officers traced the victim’s steps which lead them back to Abby’s Pizza on Crater Lake Hwy, where the victim had been playing video poker. Video surveillance provided suspect descriptions, as they were determined to be in the business at the same time and followed the victim out after the victim cashed out his winnings.

About 45 minutes after the report, a patrol officer found one of the suspects in the Food-4-Less parking lot near Biddle Road. A witness reported that the suspect had thrown a gun into the nearby brush as the officer rolled up. Officers recovered a replica BB gun, believed to be the one used during the robbery. The investigation revealed the suspect was not local and only stopped in Medford because his vehicle was having mechanical issues, shortly before the robbery. The suspect is from San Jose, California.

The suspect was interviewed and determined to be one of the suspects involved. Detectives are continuing to investigate this case and identify the second suspect, who is described as:
