Victim: Ruiz, Noemi (32 years old)

Suspect: Solis-Garcia, Enrique Jose (38 years old)

On 09/11/17 at 7:27AM, officers and medical personnel responded to a report of a female down on the sidewalk in the 2000 Block of Hill Way, Medford. Upon arrival officers found Noemi Ruiz (32 years old), deceased in her driveway of an apparent homicide. The cause and manner of death are pending an autopsy, however the initial investigation indicates the victim was stabbed multiple times.

The scene was quickly secured and Hill Way was closed between Wabash Street and Keene Way. Detectives from the Medford Police Department responded along with a Deputy Medical Examiner from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the Oregon State Police Crime Lab.

A male subject, believed to be known by the victim was identified as a person of interest. At approximately 11:00AM this subject was located and detained by law enforcement in northern California.

Medford Police Detectives are currently on scene in northern California and Hill Way remains closed at this time. Detectives did not locate a weapon at the scene and believe it could have been discarded by the suspect. Media Release prepared by: Lt. Enrique Solis-Garcia (38 years old) was lodged at the Tehama County Jail in Red Bluff, California this afternoon on an outstanding warrant out of the Medford Police Department for the crime of Murder. Solis-Garcia is suspected of killing Noemi Ruiz this morning in front of her residence in the 2000 Block of Hill Way, Medford.

Solis-Garcia was taken into custody today around 11:00AM by officers from the Red Bluff Police Department. Red Bluff Officers were acting on information received from Medford Police Detectives.

This investigation is still ongoing. Detectives from the Medford Police Department are currently in Red Bluff, California and are being assisted by the Red Bluff Police Department and the Tehama County District Attorney’s Office.

Solis-Garcia is being held on a no bail warrant awaiting extradition back to Jackson County. Hill Way still remains closed at this time.
