On August 15, 2017 at about 1653 hours, Medford Police responded to a report of a bank robbery that had occurred at the Wells Fargo Bank located inside Safeway on Crater Lake Highway. The suspect was described as a male with a thin pale face with an age range of 40s-60s. The suspect passed a note to the teller requesting currency. No threats were made, and no weapons were used during this robbery.

Over the course of our investigation, a Crime Analyst with the Medford Police Department learned the First Interstate Bank in Roseburg, OR was robbed on September 7, 2017. The suspect in that robbery, Dannie Alston, was arrested and lodged at the Douglas County Jail. The Crime Analyst & Medford Police Detectives noticed similarities between the suspect who robbed the Wells Fargo Bank in Medford and the suspect in custody at the Douglas County Jail.

While serving a search warrant on Alston’s vehicle, Roseburg Police seized physical evidence relating to the robbery that occurred in Medford. Medford Police Detectives obtained a search warrant for DNA which was served on Alston.

This case is being referred to the Jackson County District Attorney’s
Office for a warrant for the listed charges.
