Type of Incident: Bank Robbery (MPD Case 17-25654)

Suspect: Plante, Stephen Louis (36yrs old) Transient
On 11/1/17 at 9:12AM, officers responded to a reported robbery at the Washington Federal Bank, 600 Biddle Road. The suspect entered the bank and demanded money from the teller. The suspect then fled the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. There were seven employees and one customer inside the bank at the time of the robbery. No weapon was observed during the robbery and there were no reported injuries.
High quality surveillance images of the suspect were quickly obtained and disseminated to officers and detectives who had responded to the area. Witnesses contacted in the area had reported seeing the suspect running north from the area of the bank. Approximately twenty minutes after the robbery was reported a Medford Police Detective Sergeant observed a subject, believed to be the suspect, enter Carl’s Jr at the Bear Creek Plaza, 1136 Biddle Rd. Detectives and officers contacted the subject inside the restaurant, where he was taken into custody without incident.
The suspect has been identified as 36 year old Stephen Plante. This is a joint investigation between the Medford Police Department and the F.B.I. Plante is currently being held at the Jackson County Jail on a Federal complaint for one count of Bank Robbery.
