There is a housing crisis throughout the country, but none more evident than here on the west coast. With a lack of affordable and workforce housing in the Medford area, City Council will be considering the implementation of a Construct Excise Tax (CET) at the City Council meeting on February 15.
The CET will be 1/3 of 1 percent on the value of each building permit. Funding derived from this program would be used to help offset the costs associated with the development of affordable and workforce housing. The CET is one of nearly 40 programs that will be reviewed and possibly implemented in 2018 to help facilitate the construction of affordable and workforce housing.
