The City is pleased to welcome Harry Weiss as the new Medford Urban Renewal Agency (MURA) Director.
Weiss comes to Medford with nearly 30 years of experience in city revitalization and most recently led the Urban Revitalization & Development initiative for One Acadiana, a 501(c) 6 regional economic development organization based in Lafayette, LA, which serves a nine-parish area of South Central Louisiana.
Earlier this year the MURA board, made up of City Councilmembers, approved an extension of MURA by increasing the maximum indebtedness to over $19 million.
Weiss will oversee the administration and implementation of public funds that will be used on projects to address blight and depreciating property values in the Liberty Park neighborhood. Up to 10 percent of the funds will go toward seismic improvements to buildings in the downtown area.
“Harry has a plethora of experience with city revitalization and will be an asset to the City of Medford team as we continue MURA and develop the district,” stated City Manager, Brian Sjothun. “We look forward to benefiting from Harry’s 30+ years of experience from the public and private sector.”
