I-5 Closed for Subject in Crisis

I-5 CLOSED FOR SUBJECT IN CRISIS

On 4/15/2019, at approximately 0626 hrs, the Medford Police Department responded to a male that had climbed over the overpass fencing and was preparing to jump from the Garfield overpass onto I-5.  Phoenix PD and the Oregon State Police assisted by shutting down I-5 and Medford Fire staged for assistance. 

Medford Police officers began to have a conversation with the subject and Jackson County Mental Health arrived to assist.  The freeway was closed for approximately 15 minutes.  The subject was eventually talked off the fence and was provided needed services.
