Interim Fire Marshal Chase Browning

Under the direction of Interim Fire Marshal Chase Browning, the Fire & Life Safety team consists of four Deputy Fire Marshals and one Administrative Assistant. The Division is tasked with preventing fires and promoting fire and life safety through:

  • Fire and life safety compliance inspections in regulated occupancies.
  • Origin and cause fire investigations.
  • Fire and life safety public education.
  • Fire code operational and construction permits/inspections.
  • Plan reviews/inspections of fire protection systems.
  • Land development reviews for code required fire department access and water supply.
The Medford Fire Department maintains exempt jurisdiction status according to the Oregon State Fire Marshal's Office. The jurisdiction's responsibility includes activities within the Medford City limits and Medford Rural Fire Protection District.
